All these scans will give you information regarding the percentage of subcutaneous fat and SMM. But if you need to determine the SMM yourself, then there are no problems here, you subtract the % of fat from your total weight and voila - you get the SMM weight. For example, a person’s weight is 100 kg and the fat percentage is 15. Then we get the following calculation:

  • 100 x 0.15 = 15, this is how many kilograms of fat are in your body.
  • 100 – 15 = 85, this number of kilograms is the MMM.
  • 85 x 27 = 2295, this will be your daily calorie intake (estimated TDEE).

Let me remind you that these are approximate calculations and you will have to see for yourself whether the system works for you, or whether you need to make adjustments. It is logical that if you have an active job, then your TDEE will be significantly higher. If you work sedentarily, then the consumption is less. In general, I think you understand.

What advantages do I have when I know my daily energy expenditure?

Very simple. If you want to gain weight, then you need to eat so that there is a caloric surplus (that is, above your TDEE). If you want to lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit.

Whether you are a pro or a beginner, I do not recommend that you increase or decrease your caloric intake by more than 500-800 calories. If you do this, you will gain a lot of fat, or if you lose weight, it will negatively affect your health. So, going back to our example, when a person weighs 100 kilograms, he will need 2795 calories (about 3k) to gain meat. Or 1795 calories for weight loss. And now this calorie content needs to be tied to our proteins, carbohydrates and fats. These macronutrients have the following calorie content:

  • Protein = 4 calories per 1 g;
  • Carbohydrates = 4k/1g;
  • Fats = 9k/1g.

This leaves us with 760 calories from protein + 675 calories from fat = 1,435 calories total. Now we subtract the total calorie content from this and get 1360 calories. And all these calories are for carbohydrates. We remember that a carbohydrate has 4 calories (that is, 1g = 4k). Divide the remaining calories by 4 to get 340 grams of carbohydrates.

  • 190 g protein (760 calories);
  • 340 g carbohydrates (1360 calories);
  • 75 g fat (675 calories).

It all depends on your caloric intake, you can lose weight on not very healthy food, but then the question is about health benefits. Although this is a question for another article. I would advise you to return to the second rule, that is, to nutrition. Don’t even think about starting a diet and immediately taking pharmacology. First, you need to be 100% sure that the diet is suitable for you and it works for you, and after you have decided on the diet and have squeezed out all the benefits of exercising with such a diet in kind, then you need to think about AAS .
