The steroid Drostanolone with androgenic and anabolic action is available in the form of propionate (dipropianate) and enanthate - esters that determine the characteristic features of the drug. Properties of Masteron
Since Masteron is a derivative of DHT, it retains some of the characteristics of the parent hormone. In particular, it does not interact with aromatase. The aromatase enzyme is responsible for converting androgens into estrogens, and Masteron is not affected by this process. Thus, at any dosage, Masteron will not exhibit any estrogenic properties. Masteron is the brand name of Drostanolone. As mentioned earlier, the drug is a modified form of DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) and belongs to the family of DHT derivatives and their analogues. Masteron's methyl group is located at the 2nd carbon atom (known as the alpha carbon). This modification is responsible for the anabolic power, which is significantly lower than that of Testosterone. The addition of a methyl group increases the anabolic potency of Masteron, making it resistant to metabolism into inactive metabolites by the enzyme 3-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase. This enzyme is present in large quantities in muscle tissue and is the enzyme that serves to metabolize any DHT into two inactive, non-anabolic metabolites: 3-alpha-androstanediol and 3-beta-androstanediol. For this reason, DHT in muscle tissue does not work as an anabolic agent. Many chemists and biologists agree that the absence of the enzyme 3-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase in muscle would make DHT a very potent anabolic steroid.
In any case, the addition of Masteron's methyl group to the 2-alpha carbon effectively compensates for its ability to be metabolized by the enzyme 3-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase.
There are two different varieties of Masteron: Drostanolone Propionate and Drostanolone Enanthate. The Propionate variant is more popular than Enanthate. Let us explain the reason using the example of Drostanolone Propionate. "Propionate" is Propanic acid. In interaction with Masteron, it creates a bond, called an ester bond in chemistry. In the chemical structure of Drostanolone (Masteron), Propanic acid is linked to a 17-beta-hydroxyl group. The addition of this ester changes the half-life and release of the hormone, making it longer than the esterified hormone. The body's enzymes break the bond between the ester and the hormone at different rates - the longer and larger the ester, the longer it takes to break the bond. As a result, the ester is eliminated, leaving pure Masteron (or any other pre-esterified anabolic steroid), which is now free to perform its function in the body. This characteristic feature of the enzymes that cleave the ester from the Testosterone molecule is responsible for the slow release and prolonged half-life.
Ultimately, Drostanolone Propionate has a half-life of 2.5 days, and Drostanolone Enanthate has a half-life of 10 days. Esterification does not affect the action or characteristics of the hormone in any way, except for increasing the release rate and half-life of the hormone.
What to choose, testosterone “Cypionate” or “Enanthate”
From the instructions for use of the drugs it follows that they are very similar in their effects. Small differences in the chemical structure and speed of testosterone release into the blood do not play a special role. Both anabolic steroids are used in muscle building cycles. Combinations with other drugs, dosages, frequency of injections and duration of courses are also identical. Based on this, we can conclude that it is a meaningless choice, which is better “Enanthate” or “Cypionate”.

A big problem when using testosterone enanthate in bodybuilding is its strong ability to aromatize, i.e. conversion to estrogens. As a result, gynecomastia, edema, female-type fat deposition, etc. often develop. Several years ago, these problems were relieved by the use of antiestrogens. Today, the drugs of choice for controlling estradiol-related side effects are aromatase inhibitors. The use of antiestrogens is more appropriate and even necessary after the cycle, primarily to normalize the production of endogenous testosterone. Testosterone enanthate, like any other anabolic steroid, has a suppressive effect on the hypothalamus-pituitary-testicular arc. As a result, the function of the pituitary gland is inhibited by a feedback mechanism, which is manifested by a decrease in the secretion of endogenous testosterone.
Quote from the Ienapharm instructions: “Testosterone Depot with high-dose therapy can have side effects, which are manifested by a decrease in spermatogenesis in the testicles, and, consequently, a decrease in their size.” For this reason, during long courses or when using high doses, it is necessary to use gonadotropin, starting from 3-4 weeks and ending 2-3 weeks after the course.

The recommended dose is 250-500 mg per week, and as the athlete’s body weight increases, the dosage is most often revised upward. Injections are performed 1-2 times a week, preferably in the gluteal region. Typically, a course of testosterone enanthate lasts 8-10 weeks, and post-cycle therapy is carried out after 2-3 weeks. Very often, testosterone enanthate is used over longer periods of time. To achieve the best results, you must follow an appropriate diet (relief or muscle gain) with the use of sports nutrition.
Maximum effective dose.
According to Bill Roberts[4], the maximum dose of testosterone is 2-4 grams per week for professional athletes, further increasing the dosage is pointless.
To avoid the development of estrogen side effects, it is advisable to use aromatase inhibitors or Proviron, starting from 2-3 weeks, as described in the relevant articles. You stop taking aromatase inhibitors a week after the end of the cycle. It is optimal to test estradiol levels before and during the use of aromatase inhibitors to monitor effectiveness.
Also, cortisol blockers should be used as PCT immediately after a course of enanthate to maintain the gained weight.
Description and history of the drug
The Masteron formula (under the brand name Drostanolone) was first introduced and published in 1959. Its origin is quite interesting. This substance was synthesized and produced by Syntex, famous for developing other popular anabolic steroids such as Anadrol and Methydrol (known as Superdrol). Only 10 years after the formula was developed, Masteron finally entered the market. Lilly and Syntex worked together to develop and market various pharmaceutical products. The organizations agreed that they would jointly invest resources and bear the costs of research and development, while one of the companies, determined through negotiations, would receive the rights to the medicine. As a result, the rights to Masteron went to Lilly. She introduced the drug to the American market under the brand name Drolban. Syntex, instead of monitoring the distribution of Masteron on international trading platforms, also sold this anabolic steroid.
Masteron has been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) as a treatment for patients with breast cancer. The drug was well suited for women. Since, in comparison with Testosterone, Masteron has a lower androgenic index, the incidence of virilization symptoms is lower than with other anabolic steroids. The recipes and instructions for the drug provide explanations that the likelihood of developing virilization with Masteron is much less than when taking similar doses of Testosterone Propionate. The problem was that women were initially prescribed Masteron at a dosage of 300 mg per week, which obviously turned out to be too high a dose. This is confirmed by the fact that in most cases, when taking the drug at the indicated dose, virilization was observed in patients. Women who took Masteron in long-term courses faced a similar problem.
Masteron's popularity among bodybuilders and athletes began in the 1970s and increased in the 1980s. In the medical field, Masteron began to lose ground as other, more effective treatments for breast cancer were developed. Over time, pharmaceutical companies discontinued the drug. In America, Drolban stopped selling in the 1980s, then two other drugs under the Masteron brand were officially withdrawn from sale. Although Masteron remains on the approved drug list today, it is not manufactured and therefore not sold in American (or any Western) markets.
Masteron course[edit | edit code]
The optimal effect of the drug is achieved using a dosage of about 400-500 mg per week. Larger increases in dosage do not lead to significantly improved results. Given that propionate has a short chain, drostanolone propionate must be administered 3 times a week (or every other day).
Drostanolone combination
Due to the high affinity of drostanolone for androgen receptors and its androgenic properties, it is recommended to combine this drug with steroids such as Winstrol or Oxandrolone. Winstrol interacts to a lesser extent with androgen receptors and reduces the concentration of sex hormone binding globulin, so the combination will have a pronounced synergistic effect during the cutting cycle.
To gain muscle mass, it is recommended to combine Masteron and Testosterone propionate, but in this case the production of your own testosterone is significantly suppressed.[4] Therefore, for long courses it is necessary to use gonadotropin. Also, it is often recommended to combine Masteron and Trenbolone or Boldenone.
Trenbolone Solo course
Shows high power. It is not intended for women or beginners. The higher the injected volumes of the steroid, the greater the likelihood of side effects. The safety of the course can be increased by strictly following the recommendations that minimize negative manifestations:
- Dosage. Increasing the optimal norm in order to increase indicators and achieve a much faster effect only leads to an increase in the risks of negative consequences. You can consume no more than 50 mg of acetate per day and 300 mg of enanthate per week.
- Gradualism. You need to take the drug from the minimum dosage and increase the volume until the maximum limit is reached. This allows the body to adapt, and if a negative reaction occurs, stop the course in a timely manner.
If the steroid is taken for longer than 5 weeks, it is recommended to start taking 500-1000 IU of gonadotropin in the second week, until the third week after stopping the course. Post-cycle therapy begins 14 days after stopping the use of enanthate or 2-3 days after stopping acetate. This is how long it takes to remove each form of Trenbolone. It is best to use Clomid. Toremifene can be used instead, but it is better not to take Tamoxifen due to the increased progestin effect of Trenbolone.
Endogenous testosterone is restored by using a booster from three weeks to a month. Proper balanced sports nutrition allows you to increase the effectiveness of the course.
Combinations
The main profile of the effect of long esters such as testosterone Cypionate or Enanthate is the increase in muscle mass. The drugs are often combined with similar steroids. The most popular combination is Testosterone cypionate and Nandrolone decanoate. You can also add the tableted steroid Methandienone or Turinabol there. Growth hormone is also considered a good supplement.
For better muscle mass, combine Testosterone with Boldenone or Trenbolone. For relief, “Cypionate” and “Vistrol” are used.
About drugs
Questions about the differences between these two means concern many. You can find a lot of conflicting information on the Internet. Some claim that Cypionate was made exclusively for the US market, and Enanthate for sale in Europe. Others say that Enanthate is a longer ester than Cypionate. Let's try to figure it out.
Both drugs were produced at almost the same time. The need for these esters arose at a time when many complaints arose about the short action of “Propionate”. In principle, the drugs are very similar. They have the same androgenic and anabolic activity, and some elements of these drugs are converted in the body into dihydrotestosterone. In addition, the drugs tend to turn into estrogens and retain water.
