Although there is currently no substantiated and scientifically proven information about the superiority of complex protein mixtures over standard whey protein, Syntrax matrix, which includes several purified proteins, is considered one of the most effective and safe in the world of sports nutrition.
Features of Matrix protein
Here it is worth dwelling on the features of individual components. The Matrix contains a mixture that includes whey protein, micellar casein and egg albumin.
- Whey protein is known for its ability to quickly supply amino acids to muscles when they are needed most. The rate of supply of amino acids from whey is approximately half an hour. Thus, it is an indispensable component for use after training, allowing you to quickly restore muscles and prevent an increase in cortisol levels, that is, prevent catabolism.
- Micellar casein consists of micelles that are able to attract and gather into a clot, providing a long-term release of amino acids. Casein micelles ensure the breakdown of amino acids from 8 to 12 hours. This component protects muscles from destruction during sleep and after exercise, constantly feeding the muscles with building material. This is what is often missing from regular whey proteins. But unlike pure casein, Matrix begins to act twice as fast.
- Egg albumin is the most bioavailable and easily digestible protein, which is absorbed almost completely by the body. As the only component in protein supplements, it will cost more, so purchasing egg protein is not very profitable. Egg albumin contains a wide amino acid complex.

I chose this brand because of price, quality and popularity; it was the first “multi-component” protein that I bought. Firstly, the composition of this protein does not resemble a multi-component one, basically one whey, cheap, simple and fast, although I need an average digestibility value. Next comes milk protein, which also consists of 80% whey and only 20% casein, then wheat gluten, also known as soy protein, which is probably not surprising, and in last place, i.e. literally three percent egg white. Secondly, after mixing with milk, the protein turns into some kind of mucus. In general, there are only disappointments so far. The first taste, despite the bad reviews, took mint cookies, the taste was pleasant, it drank well, I didn’t notice any chemicals. The second taste was peanut butter, there was no choice so I bought it, the taste was “what was expected”, I finished it with difficulty, I never liked peanut butter. The last taste was milk chocolate, the taste was terrible: on the one hand, cloying, on the other, somehow salty (I didn’t understand why), I expected something completely different, at least from this brand. I can’t say whether the protein works well or not; the assessment would be very inaccurate. The first two times it was interesting - the original mint taste, but now I can’t wait for it to end - it feels like diluted lime or chalk with sugar. According to the stomach reaction, it seems to be normal. There is a slight “burlesque” after 10-15 minutes, then it subsides. My body digests nails, it’s fine for me, but I think this product may cause rejection in the “quivering doe”. Hint for home: blends well in a blender (mixed with 0.5% parmalate and a couple of pieces of ice). The result is a dense, thick texture, the taste of chalk disappears, and it becomes like melted mint ice cream. I give it a 6 for the quality of the ingredients. |
