Calculator for calculating body proportions by height

The ideal weight calculator, which you see below, allows you to calculate your ideal weight online using several formulas and give an average value that will be as close as possible to the real numbers.

Many people want to achieve their ideal weight, but not everyone understands what it should be. You should not strive for certain numbers; this indicator is individual and depends on many parameters. The ideal weight calculator will help you calculate the exact result specifically for your situation.

Ideal weight calculator: what is it?

The logical question immediately becomes, what is ideal weight and why do you need to know it at all?

You need to calculate your ideal weight so as not to exhaust yourself with diets or exercises in vain. It cannot be the same for everyone, moreover, this result changes throughout life. It is believed that one should strive for the body weight that a person had at 18 years old.

But you need to take into account that energy consumption decreases with age, so it is increasingly difficult to achieve those indicators, and, in general, it is not necessary.

To understand what to strive for, you can use the ideal weight calculator on my blog, which you see above. Different scientists have created several versions of such calculations.

To determine the required indicator, my calculators use the parameters of height, age, physique, and the resulting figure will show what your ideal weight should be, i.e. for a specific person.

In medicine, body mass index or BMI is used to determine this parameter. It allows you not to calculate the ideal weight, but to determine whether the actual weight corresponds to the norm. BMI does not help to correctly determine the ideal for athletes with large muscle mass, those with heavy bones or swelling.

By the way, I have a body mass index calculator on my blog. Be sure to try using it, but for athletes it’s really not the most accurate, because... Poorly takes muscle mass into account.

But despite this, the BMI indicator is still used quite often, so it should not be completely dismissed, but it is extremely approximate.

Figure proportionality calculator

Fill in all fields and click the “Calculate” button. As a result, you will receive a proportionality coefficient for your figure. Your figure is proportional if the coefficient is within the following limits: - For women - from 54 to 62. - For men - from 46 to 52.

0 Anna #14 03/22/2016 20:26 The proportionality of the figure (P) can be determined by the formula: P = B: (H+R+W), where B is the circumference of (one!) thigh under the gluteal fold, P is the circumference of the shoulder (arm) (one), H – shin circumference (one), W – neck circumference (single)). It is with this measurement that the result is adequate and coincides with calculators on other sites. I think it's worth correcting the picture and explanations of the measurements.

Irena, hello!
You measured everything correctly. Your result (47) suggests that your figure is not very proportional. In what exact place is difficult to judge; this calculator does not determine this. BUT it seems to me that you are exaggerating, considering that everything is COMPLETELY BAD. Treat such services as informational, nothing more. +5 AnniM 01/08/2014 23:17 This calculator produces garbage with my parameters. and with the parameters “thick butt and thin legs” it gives the norm. that is, it gives the norm for a “pear” figure. At the same time, it somehow does not take into account that legs, shoulders and butt can be done simply in a rocking chair. I have an X-type figure and a history of dancing. I wouldn't say it's disproportionate, but )))

Formulas for determining ideal weight

There are several formulas for determining ideal weight. They are based on different physiological parameters: height, age, physique. But this is still an approximate guideline to which you need to strive.

After all, not a single method takes into account your health status, lifestyle, or the ratio of muscle and fat mass in your body.

Brocca's formula - ideal weight calculator taking into account age and height

This method was developed at the end of the 19th century by the French scientist Paul Brocque. When calculating, he took into account a person’s height, gender and age. The formula is suitable for people with a height of 155-185 cm. Its simplest version for people under 40 years of age looks like this:

  • ideal weight for a woman = height – 110;
  • ideal weight for a man = height – 100.

After 40 years, you need to subtract 100 from the height indicators. This calculation does not take into account the person’s physique, constitutional features or muscle mass. Many people simply cannot fit into such parameters. Therefore, modern scientists have slightly improved this formula. Now the result must be multiplied by a factor of 1.15. This result is considered more accurate.

Lorenz formula - for women

The method was developed in the 20s of the XX century. Allows you to determine the ideal weight for a woman over 18 years old with a height of 150 to 175 cm. This formula is more demanding and complex. To calculate, you need to know your exact height in centimeters.

The formula is: (height – 100) – (height – 150): 2.

Cooper's formula - ideal weight calculator taking into account height

Robert Cooper, the author of a popular weight loss method, created his own formula. It is more complicated; you will need to use a calculator. But for calculations you only need height in centimeters. There are two calculation options, you can use either one.

For women:

  • 624 x height – 48.9;
  • (height x 3.5: 2.54 - 108) x 0.453.

For men:

  • 713 x height – 58.0;
  • (height x 4.0: 2.54 - 128) x 0.453.

Kreff formula - improved

This method is similar to Brocca's formula, but only more accurately takes into account a person's age and physique. Therefore, the calculation is the same for women and men.

Ideal weight = (height – 100) + age: 10) x 0.9 x coefficient

The coefficient takes into account a person’s physique. It depends on the circumference of the wrist:

  • up to 15 cm – 0.9;
  • 15-17 cm – 1;
  • more than 17 cm – 1.1.

How is the calculation made?

The calculation made in this online calculator is based on tables by David Wilby. He developed them in the 1970s, targeting men with average physical potential. David Wilby compiled this table by taking measurements of various parts of the body of several thousand amateur bodybuilders.

David Wilby table

If you carefully study the results obtained using an online calculator, you can see a direct relationship between muscle volume and the girth of all bones. To do this, it is recommended to measure the circumference of your wrist and ankle. For an average person, the first indicator will be 79-82% of the second. If this is so, then the calculations of the proportions made are fully relevant for the given bodybuilder.

The table also takes into account the possible weight of a person at a certain height. This affects the permissible muscle volume. For example, having a huge biceps with a circumference of 45-50 cm with a height of 170 cm is completely absurd. There is no need to strive for too high indicators that do not correspond to a person’s height. It will not look aesthetically pleasing and unnatural.

What should be the ideal weight

In my opinion, ideal weight is an indicator at which a person feels good, stays in shape and can effectively interact with the outside world.

This is a result that does not lead to disruption in the functioning of various organs. That is why it is also called healthy. It is different for each person and can change with age. Moreover, it does not always coincide with a person’s ideas about the ideal.

Knowing your healthy, balanced weight helps you not to waste time chasing an unrealistic result (although, in my opinion, such a result often turns out to be more than real), but to keep your body in shape.

Ideal weight calculator for women and men

Weight cannot be the same for women and men, for people of different builds and ages. It depends on physical activity, genetics, skeletal structure and body type. This indicator must be calculated taking into account these parameters.

When using any calculation formula, you must remember to take age into account. They are suitable for young people 18-20 years old. Every 10 years, energy costs are reduced by approximately 10%. Therefore, as a person ages, it is recommended to add 10% to the result obtained, which is 5-7 kg.

To understand what to strive for, you can use, for example, a table. It reflects the maximum permissible weight for women and men of different ages. If your weight is close to this figure, you need to reduce it.

When calculating, a parameter such as body type is also often used. It is determined by the circumference of the wrist:

  • asthenic or thin-boned in women up to 16 cm, in men - up to 17 cm;
  • normosthenic – 16-18 cm and 17-20 cm;
  • hypersthenic or big-boned - from 18 cm in women and from 20 cm in men.

Taking into account this parameter, it is recommended not to change the results only for the normosthenic type. People with an asthenic physique need to subtract 10%, and those with a hypersthenic physique need to add 10%.
