Andrey and Arina Skoromnye: a fitness couple about love, family and business

People familiar to many in the fitness industry - Andrei and Arina Skoromny - came to the Komsomolskaya Pravda publishing house for the Fitness Hour program. Andrey is the absolute champion of Russia in bodybuilding among juniors, a prize-winner of many Russian and international competitions. Arina has long ceased to be just his wife. They host programs together and motivate people to engage in fitness and bodybuilding. Their projects are successful - which distinguishes Skoromnykh from many who start their own business based on fitness, but abandon it due to unpopularity.

How Andrey and Arina met

The story is as simple as the world: on vacation in Africa, in the company of friends.

“She was so far from fitness that the first thing she said when she saw me was: “What a horror.” And the second was: “Can I touch your calf?”

— I became interested in fitness during this vacation. There were just a few other athletes there, but Andrey was the most athletic, the biggest. I just saw that it was so good, beautiful, great, and somehow I wanted to match. I looked at myself in the mirror and said: “Oh my God, what am I doing in this company! And secretly from him, while we were just friends, I took a membership to a fitness club and started trying to do something myself.”

And then they began to live together. It was hard for Arina to get used to the new way of life - monotonous food, getting up early, training, cooking every two hours. “And after this regime, two to a month and a half later, she burst into tears and said: “Andrey, what is this, I don’t want to live like this, I want to live as before.” But then, when she began to see her first results, she was so motivated that then we motivated and pushed each other. We began to communicate on equal terms: I learn something from her, something she learns from me. And since then we have loved each other,” recalls Skoromny.

Express diets are self-deception

Arina, what advice would you give to those who want to lose weight in a short time?

I would start with what you definitely shouldn’t do. Firstly, forget about express diets like the “lemon”, “cucumber”, “sour cream” mono-diet and other “miracle recipes” that are circulating on the Internet. Such an unbalanced diet disrupts metabolism, and even the functioning of the entire hormonal system.

The second thing that is important for everyone to remember is that non-athletes should not go on the low-carbohydrate diet that is fashionable today. You won’t be able to survive on it for long, and such a diet will come back to haunt you with even more weight gain and disruption in the female cycle. It is certainly possible to lose weight on such a diet in a week, but this is self-deception. The body perceives the refusal of carbohydrates as stress and any chocolate eaten later will be sent to the fat pad.

However, you can get into shape in a month or even two weeks. Of course, you won’t be able to radically lose weight, but cleansing your body and losing a couple of extra pounds to fit into your favorite dress is quite possible. The first step is to remove sweets and starchy foods from your diet. This in itself will have a good effect on your figure, and if we approach nutrition more consciously and exclude foods with a high glycemic index, then during this time it is quite possible to lose a size.

GLYCEMIC INDEX (GI)

indicates the rate at which the body absorbs carbohydrate-containing foods and increases blood sugar levels. In practice, it allows you to calculate how much glucose is released into the blood during the digestion of a particular product.

High GI foods include dates, white bread, muffins, fried potatoes, white rice, cornflakes, popcorn, mashed potatoes, candy bars, soda, chips, and semolina. Products with a low index are avocado, celery, cabbage, tomatoes, mushrooms, fresh berries, cottage cheese, milk, wild rice, natural yogurt, whole grain bread.

Rule 1. Mono-diets, express drying and hunger strikes will lead to breakdowns and even greater weight gain. The healthiest alternative to fast diets is proper nutrition.

If you want a certain standard of living, you must achieve it!

“I was always surprised by the comments on the Internet: “Yes, of course, if I were in Skoromny’s place, in Moscow, I would also... shoot a video, drive an expensive car, but I live in Uryupinsk.” And I want to say: “My friend, I am also from Uryupinsk, in my time and even worse, an unknown village. Few people live there. I have more likes for each photo than the population of the village. There was a goal - I moved. Everything is in your hands, there are no restrictions in human life,” says Andrey.

“Guys, if you are passionate about it, if you want to contribute something to this sport, if you love this sport and a healthy lifestyle with all your heart, the money will come by itself,” is what Skoromny advises everyone.

At first, she and Arina lived in spartan conditions, went to the rocking chair with one subscription to the other end of the city, and slept on mattresses.

The couple made their program simply because they received a huge number of the same type of questions from fans. They had no goal of making money from the project, and even now 95% of them refuse sponsorship offers even on social networks. From culinary to sports, their fitness projects are a true labor of love.

“You have to find what you like, what you like. If this is not a sport, and you have difficulty walking along this road, you need to choose a different path and not be afraid to change the type of activity,” says Arina. Her husband, when asked why many athletes start fitness channels but do not achieve popularity, replied that they simply did not have enough enthusiasm. “As soon as you think about monetization, ideas fail,” he said.
