One of the most talked about fitness bikini champions today is Ekaterina Lapteva: a former master of sports in rhythmic gymnastics and a young mother was able to beat many famous athletes at world-class competitions and this, of course, could not go unnoticed. At 25, Katya is already a bronze medalist of the Russian Cup, Russian champion, European vice-champion, Arnold Classic 2015 champion and Olympia Amateur Spain vice-champion in the fitness bikini category.
Ekaterina Lapteva was born in Moscow and devoted most of her sports life to rhythmic gymnastics, achieving the title of master of sports. From the outside it may seem that switching from one sport to another is easy, but in reality, changing your life and leaving gymnastics for bodybuilding is a serious volitional decision. However, the gracefulness of a gymnast is felt in the girl. While posing, Katya showed incredible artistry and flexibility.
— How did you start performing in the fitness bikini category?
— My path to a fitness bikini was long and thorny! When I decided to compete, I, as a master of rhythmic gymnastics, was attracted by the “fitness” category. In this nomination, in addition to a proportionate, beautiful body, you must also perform a free program, which includes acrobatics and many gymnastic elements. It was very close to me then. I competed for 2 seasons and, in the last tournament of the second season, I broke my arm and could not recover for a very long time. I missed competitions and our whole sports atmosphere. After looking at beautiful girls in bikinis, I decided to try myself in this category. My coach gave the go-ahead and as it turned out, all the accidents are not accidental!
Many girls after childbirth are concerned about the question:? Of course, for a master of sports the path to getting back in shape was easier than for a girl unfamiliar with sports. But not everyone can win the Arnold and conquer Europe as a young mother.
— How did you combine the role of a young mother and preparation for competitions?
— First of all, it’s worth noting that I have a lot of help, who helped create all the conditions so that I had time for this very preparation for the competition. When I started preparing, my daughter was just a baby, she was only a year old, but I managed to combine caring for the child, work and preparation. Everything in one bottle. Now I understand that there would be a great desire and there would immediately be an extra couple of hours in the day! Of course, sometimes I had to train late in the evening and chew breasts wherever I could. But that time strengthened me and taught me to organize myself even more and use time to the maximum benefit.
Katya’s approach to training and nutrition is strictly individual; she is not used to mindlessly copying someone else’s experience. For example, most athletes before competitions remove carbohydrates from their diet 3-4 days before, and water 1-2 days before, in order to have a good body. Thanks to genetics, Katya Lapteva’s drying process is faster than others, which is an advantage for the “fitness” category, but does not provide any advantages for performing in the “fitness bikini”. Therefore, she developed her own approach to nutrition. The same is true with training.
— What are your favorite exercises?
— Oddly enough, I don’t have any unfavorite exercises. I love training and work to the max every time in the gym. But there are, of course, exercises that I am ready to include in every workout - these are all kinds of isolating exercises. I like to work on quality and quality. Muscle volume is of course important, but it is the beautiful, high-quality form that most pleases the eyes of spectators and judges!

On May 17, the 77th European Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships ended in Santa Susanna, Spain. A record number of athletes came to the tournament - over one and a half thousand. Particular attention of the audience was attracted by the fitness bikini category, where Muscovite Ekaterina Lapteva won second place in the category up to 172 cm. Bolshoi Sport was the first to respond to the success of the 24-year-old athlete, inviting Ekaterina to Luzhniki for a bike ride.
Dossier
Born on July 17, 1990 in Moscow - Performs in the fitness bikini category (up to 172 cm) - Vice-champion of Europe (2015) - Champion of Moscow and the Moscow region (2015) - Bronze medalist of the Russian Cup (2015) - Master of Sports in rhythmic gymnastics
Admit it, you were counting on a medal, right? Honestly, no. Silver is a complete surprise. The plans were more modest. This is a new experience, my first international start; before that I was doing rhythmic gymnastics. Initially, the task was to prove myself at the championships in Moscow and Russia. Yes, I was noted there, but I could only dream about Europe. The medal came as a real shock. When I returned to the hotel, I didn’t understand what to do next. So suddenly it all collapsed. Now we will think with the coach which starts to choose for the autumn season.
In what way did you lose to the winner, the Danish Nini Goffler?
You know, our sport is so subjective that it’s difficult to determine exactly what she’s better than me at. It would probably be wrong to talk about quality and proportions in a dispute between first, second and third places. After all, everyone comes to international competitions in the best possible shape. Which of us is better is the decision of the judges, a matter of their taste. Roughly speaking: one likes brunettes, the other likes blondes. Perhaps the decisive argument was Gofler’s recognition: she has been in the elite for several seasons now.
Was your preparation for the two championships – Russian and European – different?
Coach Iveta Statsenko constantly monitored my form and changed something from start to start. We weren't afraid to experiment. I approached the Moscow Region Championships very gently and calmly. It dried, but did not remove water and carbohydrates. She won there. Before Moscow, I stopped drinking water 1.5 days before going out, and eliminated carbohydrates 3-4 days before. Victory again. In principle, things were going well, but this regime is not suitable for my body. I “dry” quite quickly, and the quality of my figure approaches not fitness, but body fitness, where the body is quite rigid and too sculpted. The judges also talked about this. She approached the national championship in optimal shape; all she had to do was not lose it before the European championship.
How did the federation representatives react to your medal?
I think they were surprised. Initially they treated me calmly. After the national championship, I rode in team B (2nd–5th places), and group A included the winners. But it turned out that I beat them.
Are Russian bikini athletes encouraged for medals at international tournaments?
There is a small monetary compensation. I won't give out numbers. Otherwise they will deprive her too, God forbid. In general, the preparation costs are quite large, much more than I received.
You are a young mother. Was it difficult to return to sports?
Not at all. I recovered very quickly. For those who have always devoted themselves to sports, this is not difficult.
Where can we see you this fall?
Exactly - at the championships in Moscow and Russia. I am inclined to think that we should go to the World Championships. And in the spring I want to go to the Arnold Classic in the USA.
Childhood
Not much is known about the relatives of the great athlete due to his modesty and desire to protect his family from the annoying attention of others. Little Andrei was born into a very poor family. Mom worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature at a school in the small village of Yamalo - Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and dad worked as a foreman at construction sites.
Due to an acute shortage of money, the Skoromny family lived for many of the future athlete’s childhood years in a construction trailer, next to his father’s place of work, so rumors that Andrei achieved such heights only thanks to his rich parents will remain rumors. However, as it later turns out, it was precisely these harsh living conditions in the North, the inability to acquire the things necessary for a normal life, that were key in the young athlete’s desire to escape poverty and help his family find a carefree life.
Angel's Form
From the photo of Ekaterina Grigorieva, you can see that she is a very charming girl with a sincere and snow-white smile. It was for such external data that her colleagues nicknamed her “Russian angel”.
This was facilitated by certain character traits. Ekaterina, unlike other models, always behaved quite modestly and reservedly. It’s not surprising, because her childhood was spent in fairly strict order, since she grew up in a military family. Over time, the model began to appear on stage in the guise of this fairy-tale character. There were wings behind her back, a halo above her head, and a mysterious smile hidden on her face.
Education
Andrey's student years were spent in the north of Russia, in the city of Purpe. Already from his school years, the boy was interested in various sports, was active, talented, showed himself to be hardy and strong in many sports. From such an early age, the future athlete showed incredible athletic results and physical capabilities. After graduating from school in 2006, Andrei Skoromnykh moved to Moscow to obtain higher education and realize his life goals, but this was not easy for him. Parents are collecting all their savings for the sake of their child's future, and Andrei knows that he cannot let them down.
Spouse
Ekaterina Grigorieva grew up in a military family. She always chose men who were like her father. It was this criterion that her chosen one, Alexander, met. Currently he serves in Severomorsk. Catherine claimed that she got the most reliable, faithful and strong man, with whom she felt as if behind a stone wall. She was ready to travel with him to the most distant countries and cities, forgetting about everything in the world. The Russian model is sure that true happiness requires silence, so she never revealed all the information about her husband.
The young couple met long before Ekaterina Grigorieva appeared at the best world shows. The model claimed that Alexander became her talisman, who brought her good luck in life. The wedding took place in the city of St. Petersburg in a narrow family circle. A snow-white dress was custom-made for the young bride, designed by famous world designers. It favorably emphasized the ideal figure of the famous model.
Professional activity
At the age of 17, Andrey comes to the weightlifting gym for the first time, and this day changes his life forever. The doors to the world of bodybuilding, to the world of bright victories and great achievements, open for him. Talent and determination lead the young athlete in 2010 to his first undisputed victory at the championship held in Yoshkar-Ola. The coach leading the young bodybuilder to success since 2010 has been Alexey Kireev. His professional approach was based on a specially developed method of training, nutrition, and “drying the body,” starting 5-8 weeks before a significant sporting event. It was with the victory in Yoshkar-Ola that the athlete’s series of successful performances began.
The spring of 2010 brought the young man victory at another significant event - the Russian Cup. At these competitions, Andrey competed in the “Juniors over 75 kg” category, and in the “Men under 90” category he took an honorable third place, losing the lead to more experienced bodybuilders.
The fall of 2010 also did not make the young athlete expect great achievements. Another gold among juniors! With each new competition, Andrei learned new things, honed his skills and technique, which in the future brought him many high-profile victories.
But as happens even in the lives of such successful people, health problems creep up completely unexpectedly. Many months of preparation for the World Championship, titanic work, a strict daily routine, it would seem that everything is on the athlete’s side, but a common cold causes serious complications in Andrei’s ear. As a result, 3 weeks before the championship the guy ends up in the hospital and cannot take part.
Andrey recovered and by the fall of 2011 he was back in shape. This time, at the next competition in the “Men up to 100 kg” category, the athlete won silver, leaving behind very strong rivals. It was the athlete's triumphant return.
In addition to sports, the educational element was also very important for Andrey. He loved to read and learn something new, so in parallel with attending hard training sessions, the athlete studied at the Moscow Automobile and Highway Institute, and in the evenings he went on shifts at a fitness club as an instructor.
