Once upon a time I tried to find at least something about Mike Tyson’s training - there was very little information. I only remember the rumors that circulated about Tyson’s punch equal to 1 ton. The most interesting thing: I didn’t find confirmation of such a force of impact anywhere, but I saw a bunch of distributors of this information.
I heard that Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice...
Special thanks to Denis Semenikhin! It was he who then found information about Mike’s training - it is unknown how true it is.
In Denis’s video it is said that Mike performed 10 circles throughout the day; elsewhere there is incredible information: between each approach (exercise) and circle Tyson had a rest of 30 seconds.
This is hard to believe. I'm sure there was a long break after each lap to recover.

Mike Tyson neck exercises
If your body is capable of this, you can stand in a bridge on your head without arms, like Tyson, rolling back and forth without fear of injury. But if not, you can try safer exercises to train your neck. The workout takes 10 minutes.
Warm-up
Perform exercises for 30-40 repetitions.
- Rolls the head from left to right.
- Tilts of the head to the sides.
- Bend forward and backward.
- Bend forward backward with a load, pressing your palms on your forehead.
Main part
Bending in the simulator
- Place a flat bench under a Smith neck extension machine.
- Lie on your back with your head under the barbell.
- Remove the bar with your hands and lower it onto your forehead, holding it with your palms.
- It is possible without hands, but this requires insurance.
- Exhale as you lift your head, aiming your chin toward your collarbones.
- As you inhale, slowly lower your head.
Perform 3 sets of 10-15 repetitions.
Neck curl with a plate
The option can be performed both on the floor and on a bench - with your head hanging above the floor.
- Lie on the surface and place the pancake on your forehead, holding it with your fingers, or place a towel under it.
- As you exhale, bend your neck, lifting your chin towards your collarbones.
- At the top point, hold for one second and slowly straighten your head.
- If performed on a bench, lower your head below horizontal, about 45 degrees.
Total – 3 sets of 10-15 repetitions.
Neck extension
- Lie on the floor, take a pancake and place it on the back of your head, holding it with your hands.
- As you exhale, lift your head back, contracting the muscles at the back of your neck.
- Perform the movements smoothly, pausing for a second at the top point.
Perform 3 sets - 10-15 repetitions.
Static exercise for the neck
- Lie on your stomach, place both palms under your forehead, placing them on top of each other.
- Using the force of your neck muscles, begin to press your forehead into your palms, while the muscles are in static tension for 10-15 seconds, do not hold your breath.
- Then rest and repeat two more times.
PS
Personally, I racked my brains for a long time and tried to find the truth about the training regimen, the number of circles and exercises. The most logical thing is to ask Mike Tyson himself or his trainers.
In my article I collected all the options that were found. I'm sure there are many more variations of Tyson's training. I have no doubt that there are those who have recorded some kind of space training based on rumors and myths. I gave an example at the very beginning with an impact force of 1000 kg.
Quotes
About training
“I get up long before dawn and run because I believe no one else does it.”
About fear
“Fear is your enemy and ally at the same time. As long as you control him, everything is great, but he can kill you at any moment."
About the environment
“All that influences you is those around you and the books you read. Therefore, it is important to learn not only to read, but also to understand what they wanted to tell you about.”
Health problems
Mike had lung problems since childhood and was hospitalized quite often.
The famous boxer also experienced problems with drinking alcohol, which began after his divorce in 1989. There was a period when he even stopped training. After Mike fought against Douglas, he decided to sign up for treatment.
Mike also had a severe drug addiction in the mid-90s until 2010. In this regard, the boxer had problems with the law, and the result was a severely traumatized psyche. His weight increased dramatically and he experienced great discomfort.
In 2007-2010, Mike Tyson, who is not very tall, weighed 160 kilograms. Therefore, starting in 2009, the boxer decided to become a vegetarian and began to train intensively, thanks to which he lost almost 50 kg.
Digital beat system
Mike Tyson's trainer Cus D'Amato came up with a special striking system. With her help, he trained the boxer. The point is to automatically draw affected areas, which are indicated by numbers. The boxer does not think about the names of the zones, only numbers are in his head. This system turns the fighter into a robot that performs mechanical movements. For these purposes, a pear model was developed. affected areas were highlighted with numbers.
:
- “1” – left (l.) hook;
- “2” – right (p.) hook;
- “3” – l. uppercut;
- “4” – p. uppercut;
- “5” – low left hook;
- “6” – low right hook;
- “7” - jab up;
- “8” – jab down.
Tyson was in prison. When he came out, he wanted to be in great shape. The boxer has resumed training.
Did you do it yourself or did you help?
Bobby Stewart brought him together with manager Cus D'Amato, who trained two world champions. True, this man had already retired, but he took on Mike. He not only trained, he raised him in general, he took him into his family and even became his official guardian when Tyson’s mother died.
D'Amato made Mike a heavyweight. Under his leadership, the guy literally sculpted his body. For example, Tyson ran daily cross-country races with a special weighting device. This was necessary not only to train endurance, but also to slow down growth. But it was precisely his compact physique that subsequently made Mike swift and elusive.
Interesting facts and achievements
“Iron Mike” has dozens of awards and titles to his name. He broke many records that no one can surpass to this day. The list of facts and achievements of Tyson may be endless, but here we will collect the most interesting and incredible of them. First, let's look at some fun facts.
- Mike is vegan. During one period, he ate exclusively spinach and celery, which is why he lost almost 60 kg of weight. Later, the athlete expanded his diet and recovered;
- Contains about 2000 birds, which he adores since childhood;
- At the age of 13, I pressed a barbell weighing 100 kg;
- Mike's neck, in girth, is 42 cm;
- He is the father of 8 children from 3 wives;
- Appeared in five dozen films, including “The Hangover” and documentaries about himself;
- Mike Tyson's money is a tool for acquiring “wants”. In his heyday, he was known as a terrible spender, buying millions worth of jewelry for no particular reason. As a result, this led him to bankruptcy, despite earning $400 million throughout his career;
- Having divorced his first wife (a model), they continued to communicate and, visiting her without warning, Mike found Brad Pitt there;
- In 2008, the boxer had an accident when he rammed the gates of a checkpoint, and in January 2021, rumors about a similar incident appeared online again, but they were not confirmed. Mike found out about this from a call from a friend who was worried about his condition;
- Instead of going to the cinema, Tyson visited the hall where they showed recordings of boxing matches - 20 thousand films, ranging from the first films shot on camera to the fights that were relevant at that time.

Now let's mention Tyson's achievements. We wrote about championship titles earlier, but here we present a list of those nominations that distinguish the legend from the rest:
- He holds the title of the youngest world champion, and will also receive certificates twice, for the largest number of quick knockouts - 9 in the first round;
- Inducted into the International and World Boxing Hall of Fame;
- He has the titles of “The Most Violent Man in Sports”, “The Strongest Knockout”, “The Highest Paid Boxer” and many others;
- 12 times included in the ranking of the best heavyweight boxers of the year;
- The only heavyweight to defend his belts 6 or more times in a row.
Of course, Mike has many awards, in the form of “Sportsman of the Year” and the like, but these are not as important titles as the others.
Fact: In the film “The Chinese Salesman,” Tyson clashed with Steven Seagal, albeit in make-believe, but the fight turned out to be very spectacular
Tyson as a child: a poor neighborhood, a street gang and the victory of fists
The father left the family before Mike was born, leaving his mother with three children without funds or support. They often laughed at the boy, took away his sweets, and even beat him. He could not answer and give change. There was even sexual abuse in his childhood. But this could not continue for long, since grievances accumulated, and internal strength was gathering and was about to come out.
When Tyson was 11 years old, one guy from a local gang, snatching a white dove from Mike’s hands, brutally killed him. The gathered rage of the future champion began to flow. His brain seemed to have turned off, and every muscle in his body ordered action. The boxer in Tyson has awakened! At that moment, everyone around him suffered from his power. No more ridicule and humiliation. He is no longer a victim. And this is just the beginning, because there is still a whole life ahead.
Photo. Tyson as a child
Most likely, it is this childhood photo of Mike that reflects the turning point in his life. In the eyes one can feel the first, albeit childish, self-confidence, perseverance and aspiration. He doesn’t know yet how exactly everything will work out, but he definitely doesn’t intend to remain at the same level. This is where his biography as a boxer begins.
