Nasser El Sonbati
Sonbati began playing sports as a child. Being keen on wrestling, rowing, football, swimming, he did not even think about becoming a professional bodybuilder until he accidentally looked into the gym out of curiosity during his student years.
The first training benefited Sonbati, he turned out to be naturally gifted, his muscles grew very quickly. Success could not help but turn the newcomer’s head; he decided to test himself at competitions in Germany and failed.
The bodybuilder did not show weakness and did not allow despondency to take over him; at the next competition in Yugoslavia in 1988, he won and became an IFBB professional.
And only at the “Night of Champions” did Nasser make a splash and take an honorable second place, losing to Mike Francos, with whom they later became friends. From that moment on, the whole world started talking about Sonbati, and most importantly, he won the right to participate in the Mr. Olympia tournament.
Seventh place at Olympia inspired the bodybuilder to train hard. In May of the following year, at the Houston Pro tournament, he presented 121.5 kg of high-quality muscle mass. The amazed judges had no choice but to give him the victory.
Nasser El Sonbati mega monster
The victory won at the Night of Champions tournament (three weeks after Houston) made Sonbati one of the main favorites for the upcoming Olympia.
But this peak remained unconquered for Nasser; he lost to Dorian Yates and Kevin Levrone. The competition left Sonbati with a very contradictory impression.
On the one hand, he could be proud of third place at Olympia, but on the other hand, he understood that he could become a winner.
When he again took third place, amazed spectators openly expressed their indignation right at the competition.
After a series of successful performances in Switzerland, Russia and the Czech Republic, his results at the Olympia were announced to be annulled due to positive tests for diuretics.
After losing the Arnold Classic competition, the athlete's patience came to an end
On the website of Flex Wheeler, who became the winner, he wrote harshly about several of his opponents, focusing on their shortcomings and outraged that they were awarded victory despite all this
From that moment on, Sonbati decided to become like everyone else, that from now on he has no weak points, since no one talks about the weak points of athletes while they are silent about them, especially when it comes to the winners. At the 1997 Mr. Olympia tournament, being in worse shape than before, Nasser won second place.
Apparently, his caustic statements did their job after all.

Nutrition
Alexey Lesukov is convinced that the physical shape necessary for performance needs to be gained a week before the start of the tournament. Therefore, a bodybuilder goes on a strict diet 8-10 days before the competition date. At this time, the athlete eats chicken, low-fat cottage cheese and red fish. Alexey consumes carbohydrates three times a day. Their total quantity does not exceed 180 grams.
Lesukov considers a low-carbohydrate diet, or “pit,” to be ineffective before the competition itself. It makes sense to sit down for it a week or more before the date of the tournament, when there is time left for preparation. The bodybuilder uses amino acids from sports nutrition.
Becoming a bodybuilder
The coach in the gym noticed a hardworking and purposeful young man. It was he who advised Alexey to prepare for the junior championship. Lesukov agreed and began to study. But his parents were against it. The young man's muscles grew so quickly that his skeletal bones could not keep up with them. The mother feared for her son’s health, so she forbade him from going to the gym. Lesukov’s desire to study only intensified. He decided to go to the gym secretly from his family, paying for it with money from school lunches. Soon the parents found out where their son spent time after school. They guessed it from the rapidly forming relief of Alexei’s muscles. The thirteen-year-old boy looked like a sixteen-year-old boy. This allowed him to officially participate in junior competitions, where the athlete became a champion.
Brief biography of Alexey Lesukov
Since childhood, Alexey Nikolavich Lesukov had a lean and athletic build. To develop skills, the parents sent the young man to the swimming section. However, Lesukov dreamed of developing his muscles to the maximum and secretly visited the gym. My parents were against bodybuilding, considering this sport to be highly traumatic.
After moving to the cultural capital of Russia, St. Petersburg, Alexey joined the gym. Training under the guidance of Andrei Prokofiev brought excellent results in the form of victories at the North-West Bodybuilding Championship, as well as at the Junior Championship in 2006.
In 2010, performance at the World Championship did not bring titles or awards to Lesukov. The failures were associated with injuries that the bodybuilder received during preparation. The athlete's managers and coach carefully concealed the details of the incident, promising the champion's early return. In the same year, the athlete participates in commercial enterprises and exhibitions dedicated to the popularization of bodybuilding and sports in general. Lesukov speaks at FIBO EXPO as the face of Peak Internationala.l
The bodybuilder's return to the sport was truly triumphant. Thanks to proper nutrition and a well-designed exercise program, Alexey Lesukov won the Arnold amateur heavyweight division in 2011, and the following year the bodybuilder took gold at the Arnold Classic Europe. First place earns the athlete the coveted professional card in the bodybuilding category.
In 2013-2014, Alexey tries to show himself to the world as much as possible and defend the honor of Russia at the Prague Pro and Nordk Pro tournaments.
In addition to participating in bodybuilding championships and competitions, Alexey Leukov appears in various commercial events. The athlete signed a sponsorship contract with Peak International. The athlete collaborates with the Iron Rating video channel, which posts videos about events in the world of iron. In addition, Alexey works as a personal trainer and gives online consultations.
Further appearances
After the 2008 championships, the athlete significantly reduced the number of performances. In 2010, Alexey was unable to take prizes at any of the tournaments. The reason for this was injuries received during heavy training. The details were not disclosed either by Lesukov himself or by his managers. In 2011, the athlete returned with renewed vigor to the Arnold Classic amateur tournament. Today, the hero of this article is considered one of the most promising Russian bodybuilders weighing over 100 kilograms.
Alexey Lesukov's training program
The hero of this article believes that success in bodybuilding can only be achieved by strictly following the training plan. At the same time, training should be hard. For many years, Andrei Prokofiev has been Lesukov’s mentor. The latter has a rather serious approach to training. He believes that preparation should begin a year and a half before the competition, and not a couple of months. Prokofiev wrote an individual training schedule for his athlete. According to him, the optimal number of approaches in an exercise is 3-4. As for repetitions, this is 8-10 times. If there are three approaches, then the number of repetitions increases to 10-12. Alexey also advises to warm up thoroughly before each workout to avoid injury.
Preparation for competitions
Preparing for participation in a tournament is not only about muscle training and proper nutrition. The emotional state of the athlete plays a big role. In the process of preparing for the tournament, Fedorov often suffers from insomnia. This seemed especially true for the first performance after returning to big-time sports.
Preparation for the first tournament, for which Alexander announced his candidacy after resuming his bodybuilding career, was generally one of the most difficult in the professional career of a Russian athlete. He had to start almost from scratch. Muscle memory was a big help in training, but the eight years of break had a very strong impact. Already during the tournament itself, Fedorov began to realize that his muscles were very heavy. After the end of the competition, Alexander did not play sports for almost half a month, but tried to simply rest and at least restore his body a little after grueling training in preparation for the performance.
Education
Although Alexey Lesukov was a fanatical sportsman, he managed to study excellently and attend music school. In 2005, there was a significant shift in his bodybuilding career. The Lesukov family moved to St. Petersburg, and new prospects opened up for the young man. After graduating from school, Alexey applied to the Lesgaft Sports Academy. There Lesukov was taught all the intricacies of the profession. He began to go to the gym more often. Moreover, the conditions in the Northern capital were significantly better than in his hometown. The St. Petersburg gyms had the most modern simulators and equipment. Lesukov was actively involved in them, and soon his training program had to be changed. Alexey's muscles stopped growing due to insufficient exercise. In this regard, coach Andrei Prokofiev completely rewrote his program.
Career resumption
For eight years, Fedorov was away from big-time sports. It was eating him up from the inside. Throughout this time, he was engaged in training, and in 2014 he announced that he was returning to competitive bodybuilding. Alexander Fedorov also took part in competitions in 2014, which took place in his hometown. In St. Petersburg, the athlete took eighth place.
During 2015, the bodybuilder took part in five serious competitions in the open category. First, Alexander went to competitions in the United States of America, where he participated in tournaments in Orlando and New York. In the Big Apple, Fedorov took seventh place, and in Florida he took third place.
After two American stages, the Russian bodybuilder returned to Europe, where he took part in competitions that took place in Madrid and Prague. Fedorov failed to get into the top ten in either Spain or the Czech Republic - 12th and 14th places, respectively. At the end of the year, the athlete was invited to another tournament - in Lahti. In the Finnish city, Alexander again remained outside the top ten, taking 11th place. In 2016, he again traveled to the United States of America. This time the Grand Prix took place in a city in Maryland called Baltimore. Alexander Fedorov took 9th place at the end of the competition.
Childhood
Alexey Lesukov was born into a family of ordinary workers in 1988. In Soviet times, playing sports was prestigious, so the boy’s parents made sure that he went to the appropriate sections. Training gave Alexey great pleasure.
Good genetics were passed on to the future bodybuilder from his father - all male relatives had a strong and muscular physique. At an early age, Alexey clearly realized that in the future he wanted to become the strongest. His parents supported his wishes. This played a big role in his sports development.
Lesukov’s hometown did not have a developed infrastructure. The sports clubs only had old exercise machines. But this did not stop the future bodybuilder. As soon as Alexey reached the age at which he was allowed to go to the gym, he immediately set about implementing his plan. Soon the boy entered a bodybuilding competition. Unexpectedly for everyone, Alexey Lesukov took first place at the Russian Championship.
top scores
Alexey’s most significant achievements include several victories: 1st place at the European Junior Championships (2007), 4th place at the World Amateur Championship (2008), 12th place at Body-Extrem, Grand Prix at the Russian Championship juniors (2009). But the Arnold Classic (amateur) tournament, held in 2011, brought wide fame to the athlete. There Lesukov became the first. He showed exactly the same result at these competitions in 2012, but among professional athletes. In subsequent years, the bodybuilder regularly took prizes.
Coming to sports
Alexey has been in sports for more than 20 years. He comes from a small Belarusian village. There Lyokha began to take his first steps in iron sports. At first he trained with improvised objects and on horizontal bars.
A few months later, young Schroeder gained access to a rocking chair, which was located in the basement of the community center. After just a year of such training, the results were visible.
After graduating from school, Alexey entered the Agricultural Academy. There, a talented guy was noticed and taken to the powerlifting section. Then he realized that he wanted to do strength training all his life.
Still young and small, Alexey Shroeder is swinging in his student years
Muscle fibers grow faster in cross-sectional area than in strength
So, both of these studies showed that as the size of muscle fibers increases, their strength in relation to thickness decreases. That is, they grow more in size than in strength.
The dependence is as follows: when the cross-sectional area of a muscle doubles, its strength increases only by 41%, and not 2 times.
In this regard, the strength of the muscle fiber is better correlated with the diameter of the fiber, rather than the cross-sectional area (correct this in your school biology textbooks!)
Ultimately, scientists reduced all the indicators to this graph:
Horizontal: increase in cross-sectional area of the muscle. The blue line is the increase in diameter, the red line is the overall increase in force, the yellow line is the increase in specific force (how much the force increases with increasing cross-sectional area).
The conclusion that can be drawn is that as muscle volume increases, so does strength, but the increase in muscle size (i.e., cross-sectional area) outpaces the increase in strength. These are averages collected from a number of studies and some studies have different data.
For example, in this study, over 12 weeks of training in experimental subjects, the cross-sectional area of the muscles increased by an average of 30%, but the specific strength did not change (that is, we read between the lines, the strength also increased by about 30%).
The results of this study are similar: cross-sectional area of the muscle increased by 28-45% in participants after 12 weeks of training, but specific force did not change.
On the other hand, these 2 studies (one and two) showed an increase in specific muscle strength in the absence of growth in the muscles themselves in volume. That is, the strength has increased, but the volume has not, and thanks to this combination, it turns out that the specific force has increased.
In all 4 of these studies, strength increased relative to muscle diameter, but relative to cross-sectional area, strength increased only when muscle fibers did not grow.
So let's recap the important topic with muscle fibers:
- People vary greatly in the number of muscle fibers of one type or another. Remember: the specific strength of muscle fibers in lifters (training strength) is on average 61% greater than in bodybuilders (training volume). Roughly speaking, with muscles of the same volume, lifters are stronger by an average of 61%.
- The weakest muscle fibers are 3 times weaker than the strongest. Their number in each person is determined genetically. This means that the hypothetically maximum possible difference in muscle strength of the same volume varies up to 3 times.
- Specific strength (force per square centimeter of cross-section) does not always increase with training. The fact is that muscle cross-sectional area grows, on average, faster than strength.

DIAGNOSTICS AND ANALYSIS, NORMAL FOR ATHLETES.
Bodybuilding is a great sport in which science and physical perfection, management of metabolic systems and control of the qualitative composition of the body are closely linked! I have always adored this sport for its versatility and greatness of knowledge in various fields of science. Show in full. And since the worldview of bodybuilding lovers has partially reached the point of analysis, it is not a sin to talk about this topic. Anyone who has thought about going on stage competitively has already sifted through a ton of information and tried to choose the most valuable thing that they found for themselves. But the topic of analysis stands apart and requires knowledge in other areas of science that are not known to all fans of iron sports. How important the tests are can be judged from their information content and the degree of control of various processes within the body. The blood test itself consists of many indicators that can tell us about certain pathological processes, infectious issues, the functioning of internal organs, etc. That is, the blood test itself is very informative and, in combination with additional non-invasive diagnostics (ultrasound, MRI, angioscan, ECG, EEG) can provide extensive information on a person, like a complete maintenance only in relation to a biological machine. This volume of data allows a specialist to adjust those system processes that are disrupted, that is, to create the necessary prevention and adjustments to the athlete’s body for further development and overcoming the boundaries of their capabilities! How then did athletes previously train and achieve results without such a volume of information?! Just like many now, using an intuitive training method, through trial and error. What you need to know about tests. 1) If you are a competitive athlete, then you should get tested regularly. The set of indicators for donating blood will depend strictly on the health characteristics of the athlete and the regime that will be in progress at the time of taking the tests.
2) Analyzes of athletes differ from the norms of a person far from sports and this must be taken into account when obtaining results. 3) Making your own conclusions about test results without a specialist and making a diagnosis for yourself is fraught with error and harmful self-medication
4) A strong body on the outside is a healthy body on the inside! Your progress and growth depend entirely on your health and if a problem arises with any organ or system, then do not expect results from yourself! A basic blood test that you can take and contact me to explain the results.
1) General clinical blood test with leukocyte formula
2) Biochemistry: Total protein Alt AstBilirubin total and direct Creatine kinase total Uric acid Creatinine cholesterol total glucose
If you have tests on hand, but you don’t know what to do with them, or your progress is stagnant and you can’t find a way out of the situation! Write to me immediately in private messages and we will solve your problem together with a team of doctors!

Death[edit | edit code]
Imeryakov in intensive care in Barcelona
Alexey Imeryakov died on October 1, 2016 in Barcelona, Carrer de la Feixa Llarga, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. He flew to Spain to participate in his first international tournament, Arnold Classic Europe, where he took 5th place.
My first competition at the international level, it was nice to get to the finals and become 5th among very worthy opponents. I gained enormous experience and, most importantly, expanded my knowledge in preparing and setting up for the stage. Since I do not have the ambitions of a professional athlete and this is not my main activity, the main thing for me is personal practical experience, because I have to work with athletes of the highest level, where there is no room for error. I can easily try a lot on myself.
Alexey's last message on Instagram before the hospital.
On September 30, the day before departure from the country, Alexey was taken to the hospital with suspected food poisoning. At night, a ruptured aortic aneurysm was diagnosed, which often manifests itself only as severe abdominal pain and is often similar in symptoms to poisoning. Death occurred as a result of internal bleeding.
The clinic billed 10,000 euros. Transporting the body from Spain was estimated at more than 10 thousand dollars. Alexey’s friends and colleagues from the project “Now you’re in the know” and , took upon themselves to cover all travel and treatment expenses.
Film work
Talking about his entry into cinema, the actor notes that for several years he unsuccessfully “knocked around at Mosfilm,” but in 2004 he received a call with an offer to take the role of Tsukerman in the project “Penal Battalion,” after Maxim Galkin refused it. Ilya accepted the offer, although at that time he was busy in the theatrical production “Kyojin Skirmishes”.
The actor in one of his interviews, describing the beginning of his cinematic career, said that:
- I saw that director Dostal was looking at him, who is distinguished by the fact that he “praises the actors so that they feel more confident.”
- For the sake of the role, I quickly learned “cinematic tricks”: not to move and not to blink.
Show "Complete Blackout"
In the fall of 2022, the sports blogger appeared in the “Complete Blackout” show on the STS channel. The teams competed for a prize of 250 thousand rubles, passing tests in complete darkness. It was necessary, for example, to recognize objects by touch, to walk along a narrow beam. At each stage, Sergei Svetlakov removed the worst participant from the project. He pressed a button, a hatch opened in the floor, and the contestant fell through.
Alexey Stolyarov and Ira Blanc in the show “Complete Blackout”
Before the game, each subject filled out a questionnaire indicating what phobias he had, so that the producers would come up with a sophisticated torture. For example, take a teddy bear out of an aquarium with a snake. In addition, participants were frightened by rats and tarantulas.
The show featured singers, rappers, tiktokers, Stolyarov performed in a team with beauty blogger Ira Blanc. And the Ural Dumplings artists Roman Postovalov and Ksenia Korneva won the program.
Physical data
This is the case when a short bodybuilder looks better than many mass titans. And that's cool!
“People with such physical condition are rare. Neither Schwarzenegger nor Fedorov could boast of such muscle development, although at first there were problems. Despite the thin bone, they are now juicy and large,” says the trainer.
- Lesukov’s height is 169 cm;
- weight at the competition – 107 kg (+ 18 in the off-season);
- biceps - 55 cm;
- torso – 142;
- waist - 75;
- hips - 77.
Strength indicators
- From a lying position, Alexey squeezes 210 x 8 or 12 times 200 kg;
- squats with weight – 270 x 8;
- raises triceps - 90 x 8;
- squeezes from behind the head - 140 x 8.

Films about war
Jeremy Buendia: training, nutrition and parameters
In 2004, Ilya Kovrizhnykh, in a conversation with a journalist, noted that he did not serve in the army, always had a negative attitude towards military affairs and never positively perceived the system of military organization based on the method of subordination, although he often has to play military men, because the uniform “suits him.” face." When asked what helped him “catch the atmosphere of war” while working on his role in Shtrafbat, he noted that a person who “went through this meat grinder” worked as a consultant on the project.
In 2009, Ilya Kovrizhnykh, whose photo is also on this page, played in the television military drama of the serial format “The Second” along with Alexei Vorobyov, Vladimir Steklov and Anatoly Pashinin. Events unfold in August 1941, when the fascist army is moving at an accelerated pace towards the capital of the USSR. At this difficult time for the country, NKVD officers prevent an attack by German saboteurs on a motorcade of top officials of the Soviet state on one of its routes.

Work in the theater
Ilya Kovrizhnykh, whose filmography continues to grow to this day, first showed himself as a theater actor. In 2002, he graduated from theater studies and soon began working at the Old Arbat Theater House, playing a role in the musical “Rag Doll.” In 2002, he joined the troupe of the Russian Drama Theater named after Volkov (Yaroslavl), where he worked for nine years and played in twenty performances: “Funeral Prayer”, “Top Hat”, “Don’t Part With Your Loved Ones”, “The Seagull”, “Three Sisters” , “Solo for the striking clock” and others. The actor notes that in this theater he had many wonderful roles that he “could never have played anywhere else.”
In 2008, thanks to his wonderfully played role of Motla in the production of “Funeral Prayer,” he became a diploma winner at the international Volkov Theater Festival. In 2011, Ilya Kovrizhnykh began serving at the Moscow Drama Theater named after N. Gogol (now the Gogol Center), which he calls “the theater of his life.”
