Structure[edit | edit code]
Initially, the World Raw Powerlifting Federation/WRPF was created as a bare-metal federation that has representation in 31 countries:
Australia, Argentina, UK, Belarus, Hungary, Vietnam, Germany, Greece, India, Iran, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Mongolia, Nepal, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia and Republika Srpska , Slovenia, Slovakia, USA, Turkey, Finland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, China and Sweden.
But over time, the movement towards the complete unification under its own banners of all power sports led to the creation in 2017 of two new federations: WEPF (World Equipped Powerlifting Federation) and WAF (World Armlifting Federation).
Affiliation was given to the same countries that had WRPF representation. The first tournament was held as part of the WRPF/WEPF/WAF World Championship in October 2022.
And on July 1, 2022, a new international streetlifting federation was founded - World Streetlifting Federation / WSF

COMPETITION RULES
1. Power biathlon
– a type of extreme strength sports in which athletes compete in two disciplines with a barbell for strength endurance:
1) barbell press, from a lying position on a sports bench, for 1 minute
— 50% of one’s own weight, for the age group 14–15 years (inclusive) for boys and girls;
- 75% of your own weight, for all other age groups.
2) squat with overhead press in 1.5 minutes
- 25% of your own weight, for the age group 14 - 15 years (inclusive), as well as for all age groups of girls and women;
- 50% of your own weight, for all other age groups of boys and men.
2. Age categories:
14 – 15 years; years; 18 – 25 years old; 26 – 35 years old; 36 – 45 years old; 46 – 55 years old; 56 years and older.
3. Requirements for performing individual exercises.
3.1. Bench press on a sports bench:
— I. p. is performed on a horizontal bench, the movement of the bar along the entire trajectory must be performed without lifting the back from the bench (bridge). When performing qualifying reps, your feet must be completely flat on the floor.
The grip width of the barbell should not exceed 90 cm on the outside of the palm. When performing the movement, beating the barbell away from the chest (cheating) is not allowed.
The repetition is considered completed only after the elbow joints are fully straightened and the barbell is in its highest position. It is mandatory to mark (without fixing) the lowest point of the barbell's trajectory (touching the chest with the bar).
When performing more than two repetitions in a row, with violations of the requirements for the bench press, the “STOP” command is issued and only repetitions done without violations are counted.
Barbell presses are performed for 1 (one) minute without a break; the movement is allowed to be delayed only in the uppermost position of the barbell for no more than 5 (five) seconds.
If the movement is delayed for more than 5 (five seconds), and the barbell is on the chest in a free position without a grip (regardless of time), the “STOP” command is issued.
If the barbell begins to move upward, after the end of the 1st (one) minute the repetition is considered counted.
3.2. Squat with overhead press:
— I. p. is performed from a standing position, the barbell lies on the shoulders behind the head, the legs stand wider than the shoulders (but not more than 1.5 shoulder widths) on the same straight line.
When performing a squat, your feet should be completely on the floor, without lifting your heels off the floor.
The squat is performed until the thigh line is parallel to the floor, after which a lift to the rack is performed, raising the barbell upward, at the pace of the movement (shvung), without a step.
The repetition is considered completed only after fixing (without delay) the barbell above the head, with the arms straightened at the elbow joints.
The next repetition begins only after taking the starting position. It is not allowed to start a squat (next repetition) while simultaneously lowering the barbell behind your head.
Squats with overhead press are performed for 1.5 (one and a half) minutes without a break. It is allowed to delay the execution of the movement only in the extreme upper position (with the barbell on the shoulders) for no more than 5 (five) seconds.
If more than two repetitions in a row are performed with violations of the requirements for the exercise, as well as the movement is delayed for more than 5 (five) seconds, the “STOP” command is issued and only repetitions done without violations are counted.
If the upward climb begins after the end of 1.5 (one and a half) minutes, the repetition is considered counted.
4. Determination of winners and runners-up.
Winners and runners-up in power biathlon are determined by the best total of repetitions for two exercises.
In the event of a tie for the best results among several participants, the winner is the participant who showed the best result in the bench press.
If the best results in two exercises are equal, one additional approach is performed, without taking into account the time for performing the bench press, in compliance with all other requirements.
The order in which the additional approach is performed is determined by drawing lots.
In case of equality of repetitions and after performing an additional approach, the winner is the participant with the lower body weight.
In the event of two identical results in repetitions for athletes who showed the 3rd (third) result, both athletes take 3rd place.
In the event of a tie between more than two athletes vying for 3rd (third) place, a draw is made between them and the athletes perform one additional approach in the bench press. Based on the results of the bench press, no more than two 3rd (third) prize-winners are determined, similar to the rules for determining the 1st (first) and 2nd (second) prize-winner.

Russian Powerlifters Union and Press Combined Federation
UNION OF POWERLIFTERS OF RUSSIA AND FEDERATION OF PRESSING DOUBLE EVENTS!
Powerlifting and Bench Combined! Two types of strength sports. Sergei Dluzhnevsky and Leonid Baryagin are two generals of these units, and today we were able to chat with them in an online interview and ask about some of the latest news on our security fronts.
Alexey Volzhsky – “From July 1, 2016 to December 2016, the Federal Railways of Russia carries out changes in the statutory documents. In this regard, competitions are held only by the SPR.” — what changes are coming and what prompted you to make this decision?
Leonid Baryagin - We want to focus our main efforts on the development of bench press combined abroad, to help in the formation of foreign Federations. Because by confining ourselves to one country, we will not receive proper development. To do this, it is necessary to make a number of changes to the existing statutory documents regarding international activities. Now the Press Combined Federation of Ukraine has already been registered, two more countries are preparing documents. Goal... To create several Federations and hold the first World Championship together. The work is very long, troublesome, and costly, so we decided to focus on the main thing, especially since in Russia there is an organization that has been holding bench press combined events since its formation, I’m talking about the SPR headed by Sergei Dluzhnevsky, the past European Championship confirmed that the level of holding competition in the SPR is high.
Sergey Dluzhnevsky - I am very impressed by the trust on the part of Leonid Baryagin, the high responsibility and the serious task of developing bench press combined in Russia. We are currently preparing a calendar of events for the second half of 2016; we ask regional representatives of the Russian Federation to promptly submit an application for inclusion of competitions in the calendar.
Alexey Volzhsky - Will there be any changes in the rules, in the rules for organizing and conducting competitions?
Leonid Baryagin - Yes, it is planned to abolish the point system (point + point) in determining the winner in weight categories; the winner will be determined using the absolute formula, which is more fair. With the point system, oddities often arose when a person who bench pressed much more weight in the first exercise and the same weight in the second exercise lost in body weight to an opponent who was a little lighter, since the points were equal. The absolute formula is much more fair in the bench press combined event. The result of the first exercise is multiplied by the Wilks coefficient and multiplied by 50 (to equalize the numerical indicators with multi-repetition). The result of the second exercise is multiplied by the Wilks coefficient and multiplied by the Zalutsky weighting coefficient, according to the table below (category - coefficient):
- up to 60 kg – 1
- up to 70 kg – 1.05
- up to 80 kg – 1.1
- up to 90 kg – 1.15
- up to 100 kg - 1.2
- up to 110 kg - 1.25
- up to 120 kg - 1.3
- up to 130 kg - 1.35
- over 130 kg - 1.4
These amounts are then added up. For convenience, there will be a special online calculator for athletes.
Alexey Volzhsky - Will the regional branches of the Russian Federation be able to organize a tournament specifically in bench press combined? Will judges who are certified by the FJD be able to judge bench press combined at SPR tournaments?
Leonid Baryagin - Yes, of course, regional branches have held competitions in their regions and will continue to do so. Just as there was a single calendar of competitions, so it will remain. Just as we held competitions together, we will hold competitions together. Not only the regional branches of the FJD conduct press combined events... BUT, the regional branches of the SPR also hold competitions in press combined events, and in addition to development in the regions, there will be international development, this is the development of our sports discipline, and not confinement within a narrow framework. With the development of Federations and regional branches, a picture is emerging where 2-3 Federations in a region hold competitions in powerlifting, bench press, armlifting, etc. The number of Federations is growing faster than the number of competing athletes, competitions begin to overlap on the same day, luring athletes, bickering, etc. As a result, each Federation has much fewer athletes at competitions than could have been the case with the usual coordination of the competition calendar, a single fee, and uniform approaches to judging. If you look at the lists of competing athletes by name, it will become clear that the same athletes compete in all Federations (SPR, Vityaz, WPC, NAP, FZhD, FRF, WRPF). Now all the Russian Federations have converged on one point on the map... this is Moscow, it couldn’t be any other way. I can imagine the competition calendar for ’17... and the athletes’ headaches... where to perform. Competition among alternatives has led to very positive aspects: A reduction in the entry fee, a reduction in the annual fee, cash bonuses have appeared, there are much more competitions, but what is most pleasing is the level of competitions, it has become very high... I would like to preserve what gave competition... to consolidate, so to speak. To do this, very little is needed, coordination of a single calendar of competitions between Federations, development of common approaches to judging, uniform fees, etc., to make it easier and more convenient for the athlete. If we put the development of our sport at the forefront, then this is quite possible. Let me add... I would like to see the fight on the platform and full pedestals, and not a lonely Champion. Certification of judges, recording of records, assignment of titles, changes in rules, maintaining the TOP-10, holding competitions together with the SPR - all this remains.
Sergey Dluzhnevsky - I completely agree with the opinion and assessment of the situation in Russian strength sports with Leonid Aleksandrovich. There will not be and cannot be any harassment from the leadership of the SPR for the regional representatives of the FJD/Press Combined Federation. Only for a certain moment, by mutual agreement with the president of the Russian Federation, I took on the functions of coordinator of events held in Russia on bench press combined. We are developing this direction together. Leonid Aleksandrovich is trying to work on the development of the FJD abroad, I am helping him develop the federation in the Russian Federation. There is and will not be any imposition of powerlifting or other sports disciplines from the arsenal of the Russian Powerlifters Union federation on the FJD regionals.
Alexey Volzhsky - Tell us a little about the new RAW + SOFT division?
Leonid Baryagin - We are planning to launch the “RAW + SOFT” division for “Constellation”, where athletes first press three approaches in soft, then three approaches in classics, the final results are summed up, the athlete’s own weight is subtracted and the winner is determined. Also, together with SPR, we plan to hold the tournament “BATTLE BENCH MONSTER” within the framework of the Russian Championship “Constellation of Power”. The tolerance is not less than 250 kg in Amateurs and not less than 300 in PRO.
Alexey Volzhsky - Thank you very much for the conversation. We are looking forward to new, excellent tournaments and bright victories! The questions were asked by Alexey Volzhsky (A.V.), answered by Sergey Dluzhnevsky (S.D.) and Leonid Baryagin (L.B.).
